ok, I'll go first then...
So, I currently live in Croydon, and since moving here 2 years ago from Wandsworth, I have to say, the recycling scheme in Crodon totally sucks..
Its "rubbish" to say the least... pun intended.
So, heres what they do:
You get 2 huge plastic boxes;
Blue box: for paper, card etc
Green box: Plastics and glass
Problem #1:
These boxes are really big, and have lids on them that are a BITCH to get on and off, and you really do need to keep them outside because of the size of them.. So, keeping everything outside, you find yourself in and out of your house all day long, or for those at work all day, your probably in and out like a yo-yo putting things in your boxes.
This is a total pain, and when its wet out, your in trouble if you dont put the lids back on properly.
Problem #2:
Now, this is the biggest problem, the guys who empty the damn things. Yep, you croydon binmen doing the recycling are MORONS. I've watched these guys emptying these huge coloured boxes as they come down the street, and what do they do?
They pull big wheelie bins along the pavement with them and they frequently tip BOTH of your boxes into just 1 wheelie bin to load it into their truck.
So, what exactly is the point in all of us thousands of residents farting about with keeping everthing seperated, only to find these guys are just chucking it all into 1 bin anyway?
I've spoken to the council about this 4 weeks in a row, after seeing it being done right outside my house 4 weeks in a row, but clearly they are just not bothered and not interested.
But, should YOU mix up your items into the wrong boxes, these guys will take it out and leave it on your driveway, as I have found on several occassions when its chuking it down with rain, I've gone out to find piles of soaking cardboard sitting at the bottom of the path beside the now emty boxes.
Well, there is my first RANT, something that really pisses me off, EVERY week without fail.
